Meet Aaron Jordan, Percussion
and Contra-Bass Clarinet
How long have you been in the Boulder Concert Band?
Two years. Although I typically play Contra-Bass Clarinet during the fall/winter/spring and percussion during the summer concerts, I am currently playing Percussion full time because there are only two of us!
Does your Contra-Bass Clarient have a name?
Yes, Sarah Kerrigan.
What is the most recent concert you've attended?
I went to the Mayhem Festival at Fiddler's Green in July. I saw Job for a Cowboy, Machine Head, Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth, Mastadon, Five Finger Death Punch and Rob Zombie.
What is the most recent book you've read?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Absolutely amazing. I highly recommend the series.
What is your favorite meal?
Mexican Platter: Chicken Enchilada, Guacamole Tostada, Carnitas Taco, Beef Burrito and Chile Relleno, with a Dr. Pepper to drink, of course.
What is your favorite movie?
This is a really tough question (as I am sure it is for most people). I am a huge fan of Star Wars, and I am really enjoying the new Star Trek movies. I loved V for Vendetta and Avatar. If I had to pick though, I would probably go with The Rock. You just can't beat mindless Sean Connery carnage and Nicolas Cage delivering one-liner after one-liner.
What do you do for a living?
My title is Flight Operations Manager. I work for a company called Digital Globe in Longmont. Digital Globe has five imaging satellites (soon to be six), and we take pictures for things like Google Earth and various government projects. I am the leader of one of the satellite operations crews. I supervise the team that does the uplink of new image coordinates and the downlink of images taken by the spacecraft. I love my job very much, but it can be difficult at times because it is a 24/7 operation.
